Software for organizations

Software is not your business. The system is.

A new system, a legacy replacement even without source code, or AI inside a system that already works. Experience since 1989, AI in our daily work, and a commitment to time and budget, without you having to build a development team.

When organizations call us

The three situations we see most.

You need software, not a software department

Software is not your product, but the business depends on it. You bring the business knowledge, we bring everything else: the spec, development, security and maintenance. No hiring or managing a dev team of your own.

You are replacing a legacy system

Even without source code: fast reverse engineering from the executables and the data, from there to requirements, and quickly on to a modern, better system.

You are adding AI to an existing system

Document classification, data extraction, an assistant that answers from your own information. Inside the system you already run, with the same security and the same permissions.

Why us

Experience since 1989. AI in our daily work.

Four things behind each of the three situations.

01

A spec you approve, and a time and budget we meet

The spec is written in two versions: one in your language, and one for developers, with the engineering rules you did not know to ask for. Our commitment applies to it, and every change goes through it before any code is written.

02

A legacy system is not a mystery to us

Our owners have run software houses since 1989, back in the days of MAGIC, and saw your system’s technologies when they were new. We have done this ourselves too: DocsRobot, our own product, is a complete port of an earlier product of ours to entirely different technologies.

03

AI we use every day, not just talk about

Our development process is built on AI, and an AI system tests DocsRobot every night. We know where it saves work and where it is confidently wrong, so inside your system it runs with controls, under the same security and permissions. We have experience connecting AI to existing systems, including through MCP.

04

Code, documentation and security that stay yours

The code is always available to you and its names match the spec, so any team can continue from it. Part of the ISO 27001 certified Assembly group, working to the OWASP Top 10, with automated penetration tests on large projects.

How it works

Three steps, in each of the three situations.

The steps are the same. What changes is where the spec comes from.

Call

One hour. You tell us what you need and why, we ask and record. At the end: what we understood, the questions that will set the scope, and a fixed price for the spec phase.

2
Fixed price

Spec

  • New system: from the recordings of our meetings with you.
  • Legacy replacement: reverse engineering from the executables and the data, even without source code, until we have a full picture of what the system does today.
  • Adding AI: what the component does, on which data, what it decides on its own and what goes to a person for approval.

At the end: a spec in two versions and a binding time and budget estimate. The spec is yours, even if you do not continue with us.

3
On the budget and schedule you approved

Build, delivery and maintenance

AI agents write and test the code, and experienced developers supervise and are accountable for every line. For a legacy replacement, this includes migrating the data from the old system. The spec and the code stay current and documented through delivery, and after it.

Why is the spec paid? Because that is the part where we work for you rather than sell to you. Our commitment applies to the spec you approved, and every change midway goes through it: you see what it does to time and budget before you approve it.
The development rule book

Your spec covers what you did not know to ask for.

A new system, a replacement for an old one, or an AI component inside an existing system: every requirement is checked against our development rule book, hundreds of rules gathered over decades. A rule that applies and is not obvious goes into the developer version of the spec. Three examples that matter most in organizations:

How do you test something that happens once a month without waiting a month?

What you get: monthly billing, a quarterly report, an annual renewal. All fully tested before launch, not after the first month has passed.

The rule: any system with daily, weekly, monthly or yearly processes runs on a simulation clock we control, not on the server clock. In testing we move the clock forward and watch what happens.

Two employees edit the same record. Neither silently overwrites the other.

What you get: data integrity when people work together. Nobody’s work disappears without them knowing.

The rule: every editable record has a version exposed as an ETag header. An update must include If-Match with the version that was read. If the record changed in the meantime: 412, and the user gets a clear message. Never a silent last-write-wins, not even against background processes.

When an external system goes down, yours keeps working.

What you get: when a payment provider, an email service or an AI model does not respond, the system keeps working on everything that does not depend on it. And when something goes wrong, a reference number leads to the full picture within minutes.

The rule: every call to an external service is wrapped in a retry with exponential backoff and jitter, only for errors where a retry can succeed, and in a circuit breaker that opens after repeated failures. Every request gets a correlationId that is attached to every log line and shown to the user on a critical error.

Clients on working with us

What matters to the people who already work with us.

Assembly listened to what we needed, came back with a clear scope, a delivery date and a budget, and delivered exactly that, on the date and budget they quoted. Since then they have effectively been our in-house technology team, with no surprises in our financial planning.

Another option

Prefer to manage the developers yourself?

We have been developing in India since 2004. We recruit developers to your job description, test them, employ them through our company in India and take care of everything around them: office, equipment, HR and retention. You manage them professionally, like your own staff.

Questions organizations ask

Before we start

We need a number before we start. When do we get it?
At the end of the intro call you get a fixed price for the spec phase. At the end of the spec you get a binding time and budget estimate for development. The spec and the estimate are yours, even if you decide not to continue with us.
We manage our own infrastructure. Is that a problem?
No. The infrastructure stays yours, and we develop for your existing environment and procedures.
We have no source code for the old system. Can it still be replaced?
Yes. We reverse engineer it from the executables and the data, and write a full spec of what the system does today. That spec is the basis for the new system and for migrating the data into it.
What happens when the AI component in our system gets something wrong?
That is part of the spec, not a surprise after launch: we define up front what the component decides on its own, what goes to a person for approval, and how errors are detected and corrected.
What happens after delivery?
Ongoing maintenance with us, or an orderly handover to your team or another vendor. The spec and the code are documented, so the choice stays yours.
What does AI do in the project, and what does it not do?
It turns call recordings into a spec, prepares technical instructions, writes code and tests, and files bug reports. It does not decide what to build, does not approve architecture and does not deliver to you. At each of those points an experienced developer is accountable.
The first step

One hour. No commitment.

At the end you will know what we understood, which questions are open, and what the spec will cost. If we think it is not worth building, we will say that too.

We reply within one business day. One hour, free, no commitment. Your details are used only to reply to you, as described in our privacy policy.
